Ragdolls are affectionate, calm cats that fit well in apartment homes. Their semi-long coat is not difficult to maintain, but it needs a steady grooming rhythm to prevent tangles, hairballs, and seasonal shedding.
Brush with the right rhythm
Use a wide-tooth comb to loosen the neck, armpit, and tail areas first, then finish with a softer brush across the body. For most Ragdolls, 3-4 sessions per week is enough; during shedding season, daily brushing works better.
- Keep sessions short at 5-10 minutes instead of forcing a long sit.
- Offer a small treat afterward to build a positive routine.
- Check behind the ears and under the armpits, where mats form fastest.
Nutrition for coat health
Choose meals with digestible animal protein, omega-3, and omega-6. If dry food is the main diet, add pate or unsalted broth for extra moisture so the skin stays less dry and the coat looks shinier.
